As per "Garwood and Heward" "THE POSTAL HISTORY OF PAPUA NEW GUINEA 1945-1998", originally the Postmarker was DA-1 and in use from 2 March 1946 to 30 June 1977 except for two periods when it was being repaired/modified. DA-1a Large steel date wheels DA-1b Smaller nylon date wheels DA-1c Refitted with steel date wheels 28 December 1972 (Note date of postmark). RELIEF CDS R-7 in use from 11 December to 27 December 1972 whilst DA-1b was being refitted with steel date wheels (to become DA-1c)
