The Ngukurr Wi Stadi bla Kantri (We study the Country) project is a collaboration between the remote Indigenous community of Ngukurr in south east Arnhem Land and Macquarie University to conduct cross-cultural biodiversity research. The Butterflies Australia Project provides citizen scientists with the tools and motivation to record butterfly sightings. The project could lead to better conservation and research of Australia’s butterflies, help protect our agriculture industry, and lead to the discovery of new species. Most urban areas of Australia are vulnerable to invasions by two Zika mosquito species. Are there Zika mosquitoes in your yard? The Zika Mozzie Seeker (ZMS) partnership between Metro South Health and citizen scientists in south-east Queensland hopes to answer this important question.
